Sangamon County Assumed Business Name Registration System (DBA's)
Welcome to Sangamon County's online Assumed Business Name registration homepage.
Business owners are required to register their Assumed Business Name(s) in the county
in which they are doing business. The online business name registration process is designed
to give Sangamon County business owners the option of registering their business information
at their own convenience with no visit to the County Building.
To register your Assumed Business Name, you must first
meet all local zoning requirements. Please contact one of the offices below to
ensure your business is properly zoned.
For business located within the city limits of Springfield
contact City of Springfield Zoning at (217) 789-2171.
For business located within the County
contact Sangamon County Zoning at (217) 753-6760.
To register your Assumed Business Name, the business owner needs to complete and submit
the online Assumed Business Name information. You will then be directed to the Illinois
EPay website to pay the following required fees:
Total of $27.00 to publish in the State Journal-Register
OR $71.00 to publish in the Illinois Times.
You are also required to submit a copy of your valid ID to complete the registration process.

Once your DBA application is submitted and paid, the County Clerk's Office will process
your DBA registration and forward your publication to the newspaper.
Once your Assumed Business Name has been published, you will receive a Certificate
of Ownership in 3 to 4 weeks from the County Clerk's office.
